Call of Duty Warzone’s next update adds another controversial ‘Roze’ skin

,

Call of Duty Warzone is adding another skin similar to the controversial ‘Roze’ cosmetic as part of its Season 4 Reloaded update this week.

On July 15, Call of Duty’s traditional mid-season update will arrive with numerous updates, including the Special Ops: Pro Pack which adds a new all-black skin for the Portnova operator.

The cosmetic is reminiscent of the controversial ‘Roze’ skin, which has been criticised since its addition to the battle royale game as part of Modern Warfare Season 5’s paid-for battle pass last year.

The entirely black skin makes it incredibly difficult for players to spot in dark areas of the game, thus encouraging Roze players to camp in corners of the map for cheap kills, as seen below:

In a recent update, Warzone developer Raven Software moved to combat the criticism around Roze by adding updates to its visibility. The skin now appears brighter on screen the further away it is.

Thankfully, according to ModernWarzone, the new Portnova skin looks like it will have similar visibility dynamics:

Elsewhere in the Season 4 Reloaded update, Warzone is getting a sentry gun killstreak, the Weaver operator, OTS9 and Mace weapons, and a new Payload game mode (described as Warzone’s “first ever objective-based game mode”), according to Raven’s official blog post.

The automatic sentry gun, which can be found as part of an “extremely rare” Legendary item drop within a Red Door room Supply Box, operates similarly to in Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare, scanning in a near-180-degree radius in front of itself to seek and destroy enemies. It lasts for around a minute after deployment before it collapses via a harmless explosion.

The Red Doors are also set to adapt in Season 4 Reloaded. “Further intel suggests that these Red Doors will appear [[REDACTED]] and take you to [[REDACTED]],” Raven says.

The majority of the mid-season update’s additions are coming to Zombies and Black Ops Cold War multiplayer, including new maps, weapons and more.

From this week, Warzone players will also be able to gift Battle Passes and store bundles, as they’ve been able to do in Black Ops Cold War.

Last month Raven Software released Call of Duty Warzone Season 4, which added 120hz support for PlayStation 5. The feature, which was already available for the Xbox Series X version of the game, requires HDMI 2.1.
